Fen-Phen
In the 1990s, American Home Products (now Wyeth) began marketing a unique drug “cocktail” designed to help people lose weight by decreasing appetite. This cocktail, a combination of the two drugs fenfluramine (“Fen”) and dexfenfluramine (“Phen”), came in the form of a single pill called Fen-Phen.
Soon after its release into the market, however, a sudden explosion in patient reports began to link the drug to heart valve damage and a rare disease known as Primary Pulmonary Hypertension, or PPH – a lung disorder that dangerously increases blood pressure in the pulmonary (lung) artery. Laboratory results confirmed the likelihood of a connection between Fen-Phen and serious health problems.
Fen-Phen was taken off the market in 1997, but many patients who took the drug prior to its withdrawal have suffered from PPH and other significant side effects as a result of the drug. If you are suffering a serious health condition as the result of taking Fen-Phen, you may be entitled to compensation. A Fen-Phen attorney can help.
Johnson Law Group has expert Fen-Phen lawyers who specialize in cases related to this drug. Our legal experts can determine the extent of your case and, if warranted, file a Fen-Phen lawsuit on your behalf to get you the compensation you deserve.
